KS5 ICT

Why choose Applied ICT A/AS Level?

ICT stands for Information and Communications Technologies and the official view is that this ICT course will give you the chance to develop your IT skills using a range of advanced software applications as well as to understand how ICT systems are used in large and small organisations. There will be an opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding required to handle information through computer based IT systems.

At Lady Lumley’s there is more than this. The applied aspect means that this course is designed to help you learn in a practical rather than a theoretical way. You will be expected to work with real people and real organisations to complete your coursework to a high level. If you enjoyed the challenges of CiDA, then you will know that you will you will learn a great about collaboration and teamwork and the skills and understanding you gain will last you a long time after you leave school. You will learn about and implement ICT-based solutions with a range of different software, including databases, desktop publishing, spreadsheets and all aspects of multimedia.

As well as a route to ICT courses at university, we also recommend this course as a valuable 4th A-level. Being competent in management information systems, project management and multimedia will make you strong candidates in your chosen specialist field. Please talk to Mr Sharples or Mr Lech if you wish to find out more.
