FOOD TECHNOLOGY

Setting

The classes are all mixed ability.

Assessment

We follow the AQA specification ( 4545 ) Design and Technology: Food Technology. This specification consists of 2 units which are assessed in year 11.

There is a controlled assessment spread over 45 hours mainly in year 11. Consists of a single design and make activity from a range of board set tasks

Enrichment

For some students there will be an opportunity to take a Level 2 in Food Safety set by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health

Support

The Food department offer sessions to cover lost time in the controlled assessment. There is always a food technology teacher available for any extra help required.

Revision sessions are offered, at lunchtimes in the weeks before the examination

Home learning

Students should expect to be set at least one learning per week, which should take approximately 45 minutes to complete
