Dear Parents, Carers and Friends

Not a lot of news today.  The briefing from the DfE was about social distancing in schools and elsewhere which we are already doing.

As I said yesterday, school remains open for the children of key workers who need to use us and cannot make alternative arrangements.  It is far safer to keep your children at home if at all possible.  Today we had 5 children in school today.  If you are a key worker and we are expecting your child in school but have been able to make alternative arrangements for him/her so they won't be coming in, please call the school or email slceary@ladylumleys.net.

There are many activities being developed online and I have ‘borrowed’ this list from All Saints School, York of possible things to do as a family.

Also Amazon has just anounced its audio library is now freely available.

"Amazon today canceled the subscription of books and audio stories for children and students of all ages as long as schools are closed, kids everywhere can instantly stream an incredible collection of stories, including titles across six different languages, that will help them continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids."

The DfE issued further guidance concerning the summer external examinations.  There will not be any exams this summer and the DfE is working with exam boards to come with a fair system of awarding grades. Please follow this link for more information.

Latest update from the DfE

This is your daily email to keep you updated on the government’s response to COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Staying at home guidance

Yesterday, the Prime Minister addressed the nation on coronavirus (COVID-19) and asked people to stay at home, except for very limited purposes.

There is no change in guidance for education settings, which remain closed except for the children of critical workers and vulnerable children. We continue to ask that parents keep their children at home, wherever possible.

The full stay at home guidance is available at:
