Dear Parents, Carers and Friends

Just (Wednesday 7th 1:30 p.m.) had North Yorkshire police sniffer dogs in school for an assembly with Year 7 students.  Dave (the police dog handler) brought 17 month old Arthur and 8 year old Oliver along to the school.  Arthur was training to be a drugs dog and will be moving to Cleveland to continue his training and Oliver is an explosives dog.  Oliver impressed all of us with the way he found hidden explosives in the school hall (fake ones!) and Arthur endeared himself to us with his high-fives.  Dave took dozens of questions from the students who were absolutely brilliant in the way they behaved and the enthusiasm they showed.  It was a great way to start the afternoon and I was so proud of the way the students were unafraid to ask questions and how confident they felt in front of outside people and their peers.   A huge thank you to Dave who is retiring in a few weeks.  Oliver will be retiring with him and, on behalf of the school, I wish them both a long and happy retirement.
