Headteacher's Blog

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends

On the last Friday of the half-term we held our biennial Sponsored Walk. As we hoped, the weather-gods smiled upon us and the weather was ideal for a 12 mile walk through the glorious North Yorkshire countryside.  It was a new route this year and everyone I spoke to felt it was a better one.  We were able to stay away from main roads, and, thanks to the kind permission of the Duchy of Lancaster, we are able to follow a really lovely circular route from the school to Newton and back.  For many of the students (and the headteacher)  this was the longest walk they had ever done, and they all have to be congratulated for the way they conducted themselves throughout the day.   The Sponsored Walk is one of the special events of the students’ time at Lady Lumley’s and I know they will remember this day long after they have left the school.  A big thank you to all the parents and carers who sent their children off to school so well equipped for the day, and I am sorry for those of you who had some very muddy clothes to wash on their return.
